Sustainable Access to Markets and Resources for Innovative Delivery of Healthcare (SAMRIDH) is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-D), in technical collaboration with Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, the National Health Authority and NATHEALTH. It combines commercial capital with public and philanthropic funds to drive greater resources towards improving access to affordable and quality healthcare services for India’s most vulnerable.
SAMRIDH aims to mobilize a capital pool of $100+ million from private sector and bilateral organizations. It leverages this fund to offer both grant and debt financing provision to support the expansion of market-based health solutions. The initiative is designed to complement Government of India’s efforts to improve the health infrastructure, strengthen the skills of healthcare providers, expand the availability of COVID-19 innovations, and support vaccine efforts.
Catalyse market solutions and innovations to improve access to affordable and quality healthcare services for the vulnerable individuals
A CHALLENGE AND A PROMISE TO STRENGTHEN
INDIA’S HEALTH SYSTEM
The COVID-19 pandemic, which has disrupted services and stressed the country’s healthcare sector, has exposed the gaps in the system’s ability to address emerging healthcare needs. The pandemic has also led to the creation of new demand pools and market opportunities. There is an increasing need for new technologies, digital health solutions and innovative care delivery models.
This shift in the ecosystem has brought innovators to the forefront of health systems transformation. They are now recognized more than ever to bring to the table unique propositions to address complex healthcare challenges, and transform the Indian Healthcare Services.
However, despite the promise healthcare innovators and enterprises hold for India’s health systems, they face many systemic hurdles on the journey from ‘lab to market.’
Lead transformational change in healthcare systems through blended finance investments in high impact health solutions
At SAMRIDH, we recognise that innovators and enterprises are a vibrant force with the potential to change the Indian healthcare landscape. SAMRIDH, with initiatives complimenting the public sector efforts, aims to support private sector enterprises to effectively contribute towards India’s SDG aspirations, including an integrated Health System offering Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Our carefully designed mission puts the vulnerable individuals at the centre of all our efforts and is guided by the principle that everyone should have access to high quality and affordable healthcare services.
